UPDATED: 1 Dead, 1 Injured in Construction Accident

The worker killed has been identified as Pedro Alberto Miguel Perez, 28 of Greenville. Perez and the other person injured were working for Payne, McGinn & Cummins, Inc. General Contractors.

UPDATED 3:22 p.m.   

According to WYFF, Greenville County Chief Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis, the man killed this morning at a job site was crushed to death by a piece of equipment while in a 16-foot trench digging for a water line. The worker was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:26 a.m.  

A second worker was caught under the equipment but suruvived and was taken to a local hospital in undetermined condition.

A Travelers Reat-based company, Payne, McGinn & Cummins, Inc. General Contractors, is believed to be involved in the project, but it could not be confirmed whether the workers involved in the incident were employees of the company.
